Lt.Gov.Elect Tony Molino:       Scholar Ray Tsay:

Scholarship Recipient Ray Tsay thanked us for his Humanities Scholarship ($5000/yr. for four years).  He's going to UC Santa Cruz & hoping to transfer to Berkeley.  He's planning on a Music Performance/English/Education Major with hopes to teach High School.

Lt. Gov. Elect Tony Molino visited today and gave Prez. Elect Rick a President's Notebook.  Now Rick promises to be organized.  He also ragged on VP Greg Wyatt for his Sacramento convention antics.

PROGRAM:  Rick introduced Robin Moore, who has her own PR firm and Gene Schook who owns the Hermosa Pavilion property (PCH & 16th).  Mr. Schook told us that the property is currently under construction with opening planned for summer of 2004.  It will house a 24-Hour Fitness facility with basketball courts, swimming pool, etc.  The property will also have a high-end restaurant, high end retail boutique shops and office space with ocean view.  Demolition is underway.  Parking will be totally redone - having 514 instead of 532 spaces with better lighting, access and 4 entries instead of 3.  There will be 18,000 sq.ft. of office space on the top floor.  The building will look very different and hopefully overcome the jinx that seems to have afflicted the property in the past.  There will not be theaters.

Showing plans for the Pavilion:

HAPPY/SAD:  Paul happy City Council approved movie on the beach on 9/28, "Wizard of Oz" (the day after installation); Sam said no sleeping on the beach, happy Ray here, happy he didn't have to work, sad he missed the board meeting and last week's meeting and didn't earn enough to pay his dues; Terry happy re Ray here, his 4 years with Key Club (surviving a succession of good/bad presidents), attending conventions; Howiee had a nerdy happy dollar that his MS XP Restore program worked; Joe sad re attending his older brother's funeral yesterday; Tony Molino happy/sad re Greg's bartending at the Convention, making the Gardena Valley Kiwanians miss the vote, and Greg's terrible "pick up" line, and glad Greg volunteered for a District committee next year; Harry happy Whit sent regards to Naomi Hord (who lives at Sunrise) - she's just not able to attend a meeting; Merle looked for help to program his new hearing aid (Greg said it wouldn't work without an antenna); Rick happy Greg had fun in Sacramento, happy Ray here, just happy; Greg W. contributed Joanne's dollar for Tony M's "kind" remarks; Carol sad re friend Peter Ueberroth out of the Governor's race; Tony happy re scholarships, sad re meeting attendance down.
