PROGRAM: Today's speaker was Betty Evans, culinary expert and writer of cookbooks.  She talked about how fun and easy picnics can be - just need a table cloth, bouquet, napkins, a basket and simple food.  She suggested places like the beach, the pier, Valley and South Park, the green belt and our own back yards (if you have one).  She collects cookbooks and brought some of the old ones by celebrities to share (Will Rogers, Sophia Loren, Zasu Pitts, etc.)  Her recipes are published weekly in the Easy Reader (in the back by the classified ads).  She's also teaching classes at Chez Melange.

HAPPY/SADS: Greg happy cuz Rick & Ann told him about a Hermosa rental, then Doug ran some numbers and told him he should buy something, sad he didn't see his girlfriend; Bruce happy about something about a girl's shower; Dano happy re posting notice on new restaurant to open in June; Howiee happy re surviving a bout of pancreitis, but sad to be on the wagon; Speaker Betty Evans happy re being here and Jack and Pat's anniversary; Colleen happy re being a realtor (see Greg, above); Cathy happy to see Doug here; Sam happy his guest was here and happy he was appointed chair of the bond oversight committee; Sam's guest Tom happy re his Saturn job, happy Sam paid fine for his advertising; Jack happy re anniversary and song; Tony happy to be back and getting new business started.

Betty shows us how to put on a picnic:

RAFFLE:  Sam had the winning ticket, but drew the 4 of clubs.  The big pot was $776, 50/50 was $43 and there were 15 cards left.  FINK:  Next week is #394.

Do Good, Have Fun, Hail Kiwanis
