STARTERS: The Women's Choir led Take Me Out to the Ballgame & God Bless America, Dano led the pledge and Merle prayed.

GUESTS:  Deborah brought Countrywide Banker Kevin Hawkins, Jane Walker was back and Mayor ProTem Mike Keegan was here.

BIRTHDAYS:  Tony (5/25-#44), Dano (5/27-#50), Betty Ryan (5/28-#??).  Rick K presented Dano with cover picture from AARP.  All were amused and we sang.

DRINK DISPENSER/FINK/LATE: Whit caught Bob C & Jane.  Fink Cathy caught Bob C, Chief, Bud, Jean, Tony and Terry.

UPCOMING EVENTS-MARK YOUR CALENDARS:

·         5/31   Key Club Banquet at 6:30 at our hall.  Kiwanians are invited.  Let Terry Bose know if you want to go or feel free to stop by for a little while.  Does anyone have a DJ system they could borrow for the party?

·         6/5  Board Meeting: Caterers are Cary, Bruce, Larry and Dano (maybe ribs??).

·         6/20-24 Kiwanis International Convention-Indianapolis -Rick K and Greg W are going as delegates.

·         8/13-17 CalNevHa Convention in Sacramento

HAPPY HATS: We presented Gene and Sheri Schrier with $1,293 in proceeds from our Happy Hats Sales. Many thanks to all who helped make this a big success.  Helpers were: Sam, Paul, Yvonne, Bruce, Terry & Fred, Earl & Alice, Merle, Judy & Amber, Rick H, Colleen, Christine, Scott, Rick K & Linda, Cathy, Bob McE, Becca, Howard, Ann, Dave Hegner, Jane, Deborah, Carol & Key, plus about a dozen Key Clubbers.

COORDINATING COUNCIL:  We will be giving out over $90,000 in scholarships at the lunch meeting tomorrow at Hermosa Valley School.

FUNDRAISER: At Dano's 5/31 from 1-6 for Ray Thomas (aka Ray the Plumber).

PROGRAM:.Charlie Cheatam was the speaker. His credentials are many with Boeing, government contracts and degrees, as well as Chairman of the HB Public Works Commission (PWC).  The PWC reviews and makes recommendations re infrastructure projects, public safety projects, capital improvement projects, and other matters.  They are an advisory board to the City Council created in 1999 because of growing projects, budgets and population increases.  They review things like street paving, sewer work, stop signs, speed bumps, trees, sidewalks, storm drains.  They meet tonight at 7:30 in city council chambers (also televised on Channel 8).  Meet every third Wednesday. Chairmanship is rotated.  There will be a presentation tonight on gateway signage.

HAPPY/SAD DOLLARS: Christine Happy re Dick McCurdy's ribbons for her cancer races; Howie sad that he's the winningest loser on the raffle and  happy can have a glass of wine on 8/1 (let's party!);Dick happy re Sister Cities beer sales, scholarships, and trip to New York next week; Cathy happy she's going with Dick to NY, happy re incredible scholarships, happy/sad? re Shea on Catalina/Ensenada cruise; Rick happy re Happy Hats and scholarships, sad Dano made 50 (lost bets), happy re seeing lynx, porcupine, python and fox; Dano happy re being a 50 year old Kiwanian & Rick's pic; Jean happy re trip to Vegas, trip to San Jose and re Tony & Dano's birthdays; Jack happy re Howie's health and trip to Oahu; Carol happy re Happy Hats successful and over with; Tony happy re 44 years, daughter's birthday, Knott's Berry Farm rides and Happy Hats.

THANKS:  We received an extremely nice thank you note from Bradon Holtzinger for the scholarship that will be presented tomorrow (winners were notified already).

RAFFLE:  Tony had the winning ticket again (!!), but still couldn't find the joker.    The big pot was $825, there were 12 cards left.  FINK:  Next week is #711.
