STARTERS: Miss Caitlyn Lombardo led us in God Bless America, the Builders Club ladies led the pledge and Merle said grace.
GUESTS: Visitors today were Builder Club members Taylor Lombardo, Laura Gramcko, Katrina Slemmons and Taylor Concois, Circle K members Sangeeta Vastavas and Chris McDonald, Carol's husband Key Lawson, Colleen's sister and goddaughter. We were also delighted to see Jim Fucile and Nell Drummond.. BIRTHDAYS/ANNIVERSARIES: We sang (quietly) for Dr. Paul Barr (3/23), Sam Abrams (3/24) and Joe Diaz (3/30). We may have to do it again next week when we can make more noise (we didn't want to scare our visiting birds). DRINK DISPENSER/FINK: Whit caught Judy, Judi and Key. No fink today. |

We will be planting spring bulbs on the greenbelt after pancake breakfast starting at 8:30. · 3/30 Joe Diaz 90th Birthday Party- Cocktails at 5:00, Dinner at 6:00, Dancing til 9:00. -Kiwanis Hall - Be sure to RSVP to Cathy McCurdy 374-4072 · 4/1 Brotherhood Luncheon at the Torrance Marriott Hotel. Speaker is Torrance Fire Chief who worked at Ground Zero in New York. · 4/3 Board Meeting - McEachens are catering · 4/5 Circle K Installation - 6:00 Kiwanis Hall · 4/14 DCM at Lomita - Sponsored Youth Night · 5/17 District Interclub in Las Vegas - Call Tony · 6/20-24 Kiwanis International Convention-Indianapolis TOTAL K DAY - Saturday 3/29 - 8:30 - Kiwanis Hall. Meet at Hall for buffet breakfast (remember Rick Hankus is in charge of this event). Then we will go plant bulbs in the greenbelt. Dress grubby and bring small shovels if you have them. We will be joined by a lot of our Builders Club, Key Club and Circle K members. BE THERE!!!! Activities will probably go until about noon. Good weather predicted!! |

ELECTIONS: Club elections for officers and directors will be coming up soon. We are looking for candidates for Director, Treasurer, Secretary and Vice President. If you are interested or have suggestions, let Earl know. |

HERMOSA - DRIVE SMART, WALK SMART. Jean
Lombardo and Tommy Thompson introduced the signs that are now available to be
put up around town to promote safety.
They were a product of the HB Public Works Commission. |

OWLS, AND HAWKS, AND KESTRELS, OH, MY!! South Bay
Wildlife Rehab, represented by Christina Jones (Asst.Director), Anne Short
and Jennifer Feyder, brought their friends "Smokey", the Great
Horned Owl, "Whodini", a Western Screech Owl, "Buster", a
Red Tailed Hawk and "Bella" and "Bandit", American
Kestrels to visit today. This group
is all volunteers who rehabilitate sick, injured and orphaned California
native birds and land mammals for return to the wild. Volunteers are specially trained and
licensed, care for the animals in their own homes and release them into the
wild when possible. Some animals are
kept for educational purposes if they cannot survive in the wild. |
