STARTERS:  The Women's Choir led God Bless America, the Builders Club ladies led the pledge and Father Earl said grace.     

GUESTS: Visitors today were Lt. Gov. Larry Madick, Jerry Compton's father-in-law Ray Banks and Builders Clubbers Taylor Lombardo, Jenny Bowler and Sarah Terry. Great job done by our new Sergeant at Arms, Deborah Cramer.

BIRTHDAYS/ANNIVERSARIES: We sang really loud for J. W. and Howieee.  Other birthday folks, Doug and Becca missed the noise.

UPCOMING EVENTS-MARK YOUR CALENDARS:

·         3/14     Decorate St. Pat's float at Jerry's house - 3:30pm

·         3/15    St. Patricks Day Parade.  Be there and march/ride in the parade (friends/family welcome to participate too). Floats line up near library - be there about 10:00/10:30.

·         3/20    Interclub at Riviera Village (Legacy Restaurant) - at 12:00 - Be sure to sign up.

·         3/22    HB Ed Foundation Party - Bob McE has tickets

·         3/26    Special Lunch Program - South Bay Wildlife Rehabilitation Center - bringing animals - SPECIAL GUEST DAY.  Be sure to invite friends, family, possible new members.

·         3/28    Easter Seals Whale Watching - Call Rick K if you want to go with them.

·         3/29     Total K Day - Rick Hankus in charge.  Co-chairs are Terry and Howiee.  We will be planting spring bulbs on the greenbelt after pancake breakfast starting at 8:30.

·         3/30     Joe Diaz 90th Birthday Party- Kiwanis Hall

·         4/1       Brotherhood Luncheon at the Torrance Marriott Hotel. Speaker is Torrance Fire Chief who worked at Ground Zero in New York.

·         4/5      Circle K Installation - 6:00 Kiwanis Hall

·         4/14    DCM at Lomita - Sponsored Youth Night

·         5/17    District Interclub in Las Vegas - Call Tony for details.

·         6/20-24 Kiwanis International Convention-Indianapolis

Thanks:  We received thank you letters for Project Touch, South Bay Family Health Care and the Rogers Middle School for contributions.

Lt. Gov. Larry Madick presented us with Rose Parade Float banner patch for our participation in float decorating.  He also paid $20 for the return of his bell that "disappeared" at the Governors Dinner.

PROGRAM: Speaker today from Life Line Screening, Diana Dotter (sp?).  Her company will be doing testing on April 1 at our Kiwanis Hall for Stroke Screening/Carotid Artery, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening, Peripheral Arterial Disease Screening and Osteoporosis Screening.  If you are interested call (800) 643-6075 for more info and/or to sign up for these screenings.  It is generally not covered by insurance or Medicare, but gives valuable information to your medical provider if you are at risk for stroke or these other problems.  The procedures are non-invasive, ultra sound techniques.  Symptoms of stroke include dizziness, change in vision, sharp severe headache, partial paralysis, loss or slurring of speech.                      

HAPPY/SADS:.Dano happy re his Easter Seals project going well and party next Tuesday lunch for them at Dano's; Cathy happy re Historical Society party at her house; Whit sad re Anne still in hospital; Dallas happy/sad re Dorothy half way thru her vacation in Caribbean; Bob happy re Dano's cummerbund and Dallas' liposuction; Greg happy re really good date last Saturday, sad re Tony's broken bell; Cary happy re Matt's all star sports weekend; Terry happy? re Key Club convention in Ontario and sad re missing St. Pat's celebrations; Colleen happy re going to Chicago this weekend, happy re Historical Society party at McCurdys'; Dan happy re parents coming for St. Pat's weekend, sad Boses not here to celebrate; Sam happy re Governors Dinner, happy re Builders Club visitors today; Tony happy re Taylor's Outstanding Student award from Rotary, happy to have bell back, sad it's broken.

ST. PAT'S DAY FESTIVITIES:  Be sure to come out to help decorate the float (3/14) and ride in the parade (3/15).

RAFFLE:  Len had the winning ticket but left early.  Earl drew for him and didn't get the joker.  Pot is $573 (23 cards)
