Tim was a surfer and lifeguard who was killed in an auto accident about 50 years ago.  The current statue is made of fiberglass and is deteriorating. Donors will get their names on a plaque on the new lifeguard headquarters to be built at the Hermosa pierhead.  Donations can be made to LA County Lifeguards Association (LACOLA), 2600 The Strand, Manhattan Beach 90266.  Categories of donors are "Chief"-$2,500, "Captain"-$1,000, "Lifeguard" - $500 and "Jr. Lifeguard" $250.  There will be more publicity, donor envelopes, etc. in the near future.
