PROGRAM: City Councilman and current Hermosa Beach Mayor, Michael Keegan spoke today about the proposed wireless plan for Hermosa. The plan is to start with two antennas at City Hall and at the pier which will transmit about 1/2 mile. These antennas and equipment will be donated to the City and will allow wireless connections to the internet for the City and for City residents and businesses within reach of these antennas. The City will pay about the same for the bandwidth as they currently pay for DSL access and access will be free to residents. If it is successful, additional antennas will be puchased and installed so the entire city will have free access. Watch newspapers and city council for more details. Service is provided by Wireless Facilitiers, Inc. (WFII), a San Diego company. |
