STARTERS: The ladies choir led the song, scholarship recipient Jeremy Wiest led the pledge, Merle gave the blessing.

GUESTS:  Guests today were Linda Haxton's friend Joanne Kenoff who's still considering membership and Tony brought RBHS student Jeremy Wiest who received a Casner scholarship and who is going to Butte City College before transferring to Cal State Chico.

BIRTHDAYS/ANNIVERSARIES:  Harry Smith (7/1) and Len Kissel (7/5) endured "the song".  Harry complained that he didn't get cake at Sunrise, so he got one today.  His words of wisdom at 87 years of age were "Save Your Money".  Not bad advice, Harry.  Claude celebrating 37 years of marriage.  We sang.

DRINK DISPENSER/FINK/LATE: Sub drink dispenser Earl took Harry's advice, said "Save Your Money" so no one was fined, but fink Tony made up for it by catching Cary, Merle, Jack, Bob C, Nick, Jane, Linda, Dan, Colleen and Len .

·         Terry attended the RUHS graduation party.  Our Key Club President Shawn Coleman was Valedictorian and he gave an outstanding speech -- funny and articulate.  His picture was also in the paper last week.  Way to go Shawn!!

·         Thank you notes were received from many of our scholarship recipients, including some from previous years.  This shows how much the awards mean to the kids and what a great way it is to spend our money.

·         We also received thanks for donations to Exceptional Kids PTO, Happy Hats, and Grad Night.

PROGRAM: Greg Hill, Mayor of Redondo Beach was our speaker today.  He spoke about the RB Citizen Corp, a (largely volunteer) Hometown Solution to Homeland Security.  Nearly 2 years since 9/11, communities are still working on ways to make communities safe.  Although it is impossible for small cities to prevent either natural or man made disasters, we can be prepared when and if they come.  This program includes Citizen Corps Council, Community Emergency Response Team, Volunteers in Policing Program, Neighborhood Watch, Block Party Program,  Medical Reserve Corp. and other projects to educate and communicate with the citizenry about how to prepare for and deal with any kind of disaster until other help comes.

He also said the South Bay is a "hot bed" of reality TV Producers and that's how he became a star.
