STARTERS: Prez Rick Koenig opened the 3892nd meeting. We sang without leadership. Dick McC led the pledge, and Greg's dad gave the invocation.. GUESTS: Rick Borders was here for his last free lunch (he will be oriented Tuesday), Rogers Coke was a visiting Kiwanian from the Golden Nuggets Club in Boulder, Colorado. Greg's parents, Rev. Dr. Thomas Wyatt and Sharon Wyatt were both guests and speaker. BIRTHDAYS/ANNIVERSARIES: We sang for Paul Amarillas (12/13), Yvonne Amarillas (12/15) and Greg Wyatt (12/18), although only Yvonne and Greg had to endure the noise.
DRINK DISPENSER/FINK/OTHER FINES: Whit caught a few (I think) and Fink Rick got Jerry, Colleen & Jane. Colleen also wasn't wearing her badge. Tsk, tsk. PROGRAM: Our speaker
today was Greg's Dad, the Rev. Dr. Thomas Wyatt, biblical scholar, Masters in
History, PhD in New Testament, landscape gardener, contractor, etc. He spoke about the importance of
commitment to whatever it is that gives meaning to your life. Believe in your dreams and follow
them. Whatever your religion, commit
to it. Commit to community service,
commit to your family. Don't sit on
the fence. Commitment will help you
become all you can be. He told a great Holiday story about a young deaf boy who gave an anonymous gift to his friend, in the process ran into an electric fence, and thereafter regained his hearing. God works in mysterious ways. Good deeds do not go unrewarded. |
