PROGRAM: Since our program didn't show (a first for program chairman Rick), we sweet-talked visiting former Lt. Gov. John Nicholson into tap-dancing for us.  He became a Kiwanian many years ago when he found out you didn't have to own your own business to join (e.g. Harry Smith with Telephone Co.). He knew many of our old timers like Logan Cotton, Ed Engel, Harry, Charlie Imai, etc.  In 1970 he became Key Club Chairman for his club and still is.  He has also been Division and District Sponsored Youth Chairman. He shared several anecdotes from his experiences with sponsored youth.

HAPPY/SAD DOLLARS: Joanne sad she can't find her apron; Cathy happy Dick went to Norwalk with her so she could use the carpool lane and that she has filed to run for re-election to the School Board; Jerry Moore was happy Gardena Valley was interclubbing with us today; Merle happy Marjorie got her drivers license renewed and that she's shopping in Hong Kong, but coming back to take him to Hawaii; Dano happy that he will be catering for the AVP Manhattan Open this weekend and sad that the 17th of August will be his last day in business in Hermosa; Greg sad re Whit ailing; Terry happy re new granddaughter, Ruby (that makes 4 grandchildren in the 3-1/2 years she's been in Kiwanis); Sam happy Gardena is visiting, happy re dollar put in his hat at a party last weekend; Rick happy re new faces here today and happy Ann doing well.
