STARTERS: The women's choir led us in Take Me Out to the Ball Game and God Bless America. Greg led the pledge and the sun tanned, sun glass wearing Merle gave the blessing. GUESTS: No guests today. BIRTHDAYS/ANNIVERSARIES: Marjorie Fish sent a check with beachcomber Merle to celebrate her birthday. We sang!! DRINK DISPENSER/FINK: Late arrivals were Jane & Paul (a wheel spin made the Prez pay!), but Whit caught them too for a buck apiece. Fink Cathy caught Tony, Bob, Jane, Cary and Harry. |

PROGRAM: Manhattan
Beach City Councilman and current Mayor Jim Aldinger was our speaker
today. He's been on the council for
2-1/2 years. He has worked with Boeing for 20 years building satellites and
the like. Like HB, MB has its share
of budget woes, especially the schools.
They also have a new School Superintendent. They are currently building a 2-story underground parking
structure at the Metlox site to be topped by a hotel, retail and restaurant
facilities. They hope to finish this project
next year. They are also building a
new Fire and Police facility with a $36 million dollar budget (probably a 2
year project). Fire and Police will
be temporarily relocated, Fire next to the Joslyn Center and Police at the
old Intermediate School. They
recently re-did Polliwog Park - Sunday concerts there are a big draw
("Stones" sound-alike band this weekend). |
