SPEAKER:.DUFFY CLARK, Hermosa School Superintendent and Hermosa Rotary Club President brought us up to date re Rotary and the schools.  He's been here about 2-1/2 years and still loves it.  Re Rotary:  He enjoys the friendly rivalry between Kiwanis and Rotary and noted that we do help each other out.  Cathy McC spoke to them about membership growth and they are working on it, Earl will be a program in December.  They still have their Literacy Project at Hermosa View, Scholarships and weekly programs of interest.

Re Schools: Enrollment is still growing --more homeowners and families with kids.  We will be expanding facilities.  Not much staff turnover, only three new teachers (3rd, 4th, 5th).  Main goal is improving literacy--reading, writing, spelling, etc.  Teachers are receiving training re how to better reach all students in same environment, from the learning challenged to the gifted..  Kids continue to have lots of testing in all fields.  We received an international award for technology.  New group called Digital Divas encourages girls in science, math and technology.
