STARTERS:  The women's choir (with assistance from Dano's friend Jessie) led the patriotic song; the Builders Club guests, Laura Beth David and Cheryl Hausle led the pledge and Merle prayed.

BIRTHDAYS: Jan Eckford (7th) wasn't here and neither was Jim Fucile (8th).  We figured Jan was out celebrating somewhere, but we called Jim on Tony's cell and sang to him again.  Is that cruel and unusual punishment to sing to someone two weeks in a row?

DRINK DISPENSER/FINK: Witt nabbed the latecomers (Cary & Jerry?) and Fink Larry Jackson caught Cathy, Cary, Jerry and Steve.

GUESTS: Jerry Compton brought his friend Leonard Frederick and we had 2 Builders Club guests (see Starters).

THE BELL IS BACK:  Somehow, someone returned the bell.  After a paltry initial offering, Don Tony paid $10 ransom for its return.  He said thanks a bunch to the thief.

Election Results:  Measure J passed as did Prop 47 which will help our schools.  Our School Board Members were especially pleased.  Hermosa voters turned out in large numbers (5400) thanks to get out the vote efforts by Measure J proponents.

The TV Guys:  Dan Marinelli and Greg Wyatt put on a great show on election night and even managed to mention Kiwanis during their broadcast.

Distinguished Kiwanian forms are available from Tony.

Dunlop Award Pool - Div. 19 is giving opportunity to contribute $10 to Cal Nev Ha Foundation and have chance to win a Dunlop Award (see Tony/Earl for details).

Thanks from BCHD for holiday scrip contribution.

SPEAKERS:  Hermosa Beach City Councilman Art Yoon spoke about his proposal to put on a Leadership Hermosa Program in January for 20 aspiring Hermosa Leaders.  He was seeking Kiwanis support as speakers and/or participants and/or sources of ideas.  Purpose is to identify and educate existing and potential community leaders, increase their knowledge and develop a growing network of individuals who can help solve community problems. Goal is to nurture, educate and motivate the leaders of tomorrow.  Program would be two days of meetings, speakers and education and culminate in a class project which will significantly benefit the community.

Councilman Art Yoon:

Builders Club Pledgers:

RAFFLE:  Yvonne had the winning ticket and took the $36, passing up the opportunity to try for $311 with 38 cards.

FINK next week is 345
