NEW MEMBER: Our newest member,  JOSHUA SNEED, was inducted today.  Sam Abrams, Judy Garland and Colleen Hartley did the honors.  Joshua is a Captain with the Salvation Army and has been with them for about six years.  He's originally from Massachusetts, but wound up in California via the U.S. Marine Corp.  His wife, Jessica, was apparently the moving force in getting him to check out Kiwanis (she was a member of Builders and Key Club).

HAPPY/SADS: Nick happy to meet guest Gerry Morton; Chris Jones happy re Builders Club visitors and happy re the Angels; Judy and Colleen happy re new member Joshua; Larry happy to survive another week; Merle happy Josh does what his wife tells him; Yvonne happy re Tree Lot coming along and that Nick & Carol will be schedulers; Carol happy re new member Josh and sad she's going to be a sceduler; Josh happy he got to visit his dad in Wyoming last week; guest Gerry happy to be here - thinks we are a friendly group; Whit just happy; Earl happy about something (sorry I missed it); Rick happy re new member; Tony happy re Josh, guests and that no one has stolen his bell yet.

SPEAKER:  Carlos O'Brien was studying the anthropological aspects of Oaxaca, Mexico and particularly the health of the indigenous Mixteco people.  He spent 5-1/2 weeks in the village of San Juan Numi. Many Mixteco (about 15% of the population or 50,000 folks) live in California and work in agriculture.  Through an organization called Direct Relief International he is going back in December to help provide additional medical supplies.  The rural areas of Oaxaca are fair distances from hospitals and have little in the way of emergency equipment or medical supplies.  They still use their traditional medical including herbal remedies.

New Member Josh:

RAFFLE:  Earl the Pearl had the winning ticket and took the money.  Today's take was $26.  Pot is $232 for the joker with 41 cards left.   FINK next week is 586.

GREG WYATT volunteered as photographer as Howieeee  is still on vacation.
