SPEAKER: Speaker Gigi McMillan spoke about Pediatric Brain Tumors and about the support groups she started to help parents and siblings deal with issues relating to pediatric brain tumors.  Her son was diagnosed at age 5 with cancerous brain tumor. He has disabilities now, but he's a happy kid with a good life at age 12. Symptoms: headaches, vomiting, double vision.  Since they are rare doctors don't see many.  Her parent and sibling support groups know more about what the families need than the doctors.  Brain tumors are the #1 cause of death by cancer in children today.  About 40% do not survive.  Those who do survive generally have disabilities and they and their families need support in dealing with the problems.  They provide newsletters and meetings to help the families.

HAPPY/SADS: Greg W sad that Adelphia filed B.K.; Tony proud of Taylor's two awards for leadership and service; Greg R. happy that both kids graduated from college (CSLB & CSDH); Jan happy re Key Club efforts to raise poppy money for the VFW over Memorial Day weekend; Terry bought centerpiece for Jeannie's birthday; happy her nephew came thru surgery ok; Carla sad re doctor's appointment; Cathy happy re Coordinating Council now has someone else in charge of scholarship luncheon; happy re Mira Costa top students from Hermosa and Shea paying rent; Bob happy re results of HB Ed Foundation fundraising effort - $85,000 so far and happy re Judy only has 2 more weeks of school; Jerry happy that Patrick receive academic award for 4th grade; Linda happy her daughter has purchased her first home; Sam happy to give out lots of scholarships; Carol happy to leave for Rosarito Beach in Baja right after the meeting.
