PRESENTATIONS
Rick
Koenig, special emcee, waxed eloquent while introducing the honorees present,
who were invited to lunch to thank them for their involvement in the fitness
clusters, fund raising, and introduction to the community event. The Handprint Wall project spearheaded by Dick
McCurdy raised over $21,000. $5000 of which underwrote the mural on Cantina
Real. $1000 to refurbish the Veteran’s memorial, $2500 to the Centennial dinner and the balance for the 4 fitness clusters. Some of
those in attendance were:, Mike Flaherty- Public Works,

Ken Bergeron – FOP,
Jeff Atkinson – Olympic Fitness, Kevin Cody –
Easy Reader, Walt Dougher & Susan Burdin – Beach City Health Dist.
Steve
Collins – Hermosa Cyclery Award plaques were given to many of the
people/organizations that participated.
A Grand Finale raffle was held for a
Strand Cruiser with each person at lunch receiving a
free ticket. Mike Flaherty road with the bike!!!

The
speaker is a doctor who is a cancer
specialist, researcher, UC Irvine professor, and clinician. Described the
current state of cancer research and treatment & where he is taking it
& where it should go. He group is having great success with treatments that
are tailored to the individual in the lab before being administered. More
information in the clubroom for anyone interested..
