                   Regular Meeting – Wednesday, May 14, 2008

 

Prez Mike called the meeting to order at 12:10 p.m.

 

Everyone sang the Patriotic Song

There were no birthdays or anniversaries to initiate the Kiwanis “Choir?”

Kiwanis Events:

1        Memorial Day Beer Garden sign-up sheet passed around.

2        Interclub lunch at Manhattan Beach Kiwanis Club sign-up sheet passed around for Tuesday, May 20th , leaving Club @11:30 a.m.

3        Torrance Club’s Brotherhood Luncheon featuring A. C. Green – former Lakers – June 3rd @noon – Doubletree So Bay –21335 Hawthorne Blvd.

 

Community Events:

1        Yvonne & Cathy had birthday lunch with Anna @the Mermaid.

2        Carol received an email from Earl & Alice in China saying they are o.k. – 900 miles from the earthquake epicenter.

Fines:

Fink – no one would “fess up” – so Prez Mike declared a “fine free” day

 

Drawing:

Daily amount $37, find joker = $97.  17 cards left

Chris Aquilo  of El Camino Circle K won the $37.00.

Dallas won a free interclub lunch.

Happy/Sad Dollars:

Laura – Happy to be here today.

Amy – Happy her brother’s UCLA fraternity – Sigma Chi – held a fundraiser for her “kids”; she told a joke about hearing cure and wills.

Joe – Happy his “boss”, Marie, is here today; Sad Marie wasn’t introduced as a guest – (Joni DID introduce Marie’s “guesthood”).

Cathy – Happy Shea was off duty when the officer-involved shooting took place in Inglewood; Happy Builders Club members are here today

Howiee- Happy Circle K members are here and something about USC basketball; he told a joke about a bank robber.

Bob – Happy son Scott is graduating from college and VERY HAPPY Scott is not moving back home.

Whit – just HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Greg – Happy he passed inspection for a recently completed job.

Mike – Happy he is now a Certified Green Builder who doesn’t know how to use a saw! and Happy he did well on his Real Estate mid-term exam.
