HAPPY BIRTHDAY MERLE!!!

SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT:  Julia Domaradzska who received one of our scholarships last year has just finished her first year at USC.  It really went fast!! She’s studying architecture, economics, Spanish, etc.  It was great having people (Kiwanians) who believe in her and really help motivate her in her studies.  She thanked us all.

THANKS:  We received thanks from Exceptional Kids PTO, RUHS Grad Night Committee and Mira Costa Band Boosters for our contributions.

CINCO DE MAYO PARTY was a big success!  Thanks to Terry for organizing and doing most of the work.  Terry thanked  helpers Deborah, Judi, Joanne, Linda, Carol, chef Paul and chef Fred and others.  No fights, no cops, lots of fun and good food.  We even had a great cake to celebrate Whit’s birthday.  Terry brought and Paul barbecued and Fred sliced a side of beef for carne asada and everyone brought other great appetizers and desserts.

HERMOSA FIESTA:  Memorial Day Weekend (5/29-31), we will be parking cars again at Hermosa Valley School.  Proceeds will all go to the school.  Be sure to get on the sign-up list for one or more shifts.

LOVE FROM LOVE: Pat took candy and a teddy bear to Ann Ullman who was recently in the hospital, although she’s home now, to let he know that we are all thinking about her.

PROGRAM: The Sweethearts, comprised of leader Bobbi Rogers, singer Judy Haase, and dancers Jan Murray, Pat Ramsey, Jackie Coury, Patty Bree, Sue Hensel, Mary Combs, Sandra Lincoln, Betty King, Joe Renzi and George Deveny were back to entertain us today.  We had tap, we had tango, we had Sweet Georgia Brown and New York, New York.  Great singing and dancing, great costumes, lots of smiles and fun.  All the ladies are grandmothers, some are even great grandmothers.  They do this for fun, exercise, camaraderie and good will in the community.  They even tell good jokes.  They use our hall to practice on Thursday mornings and said that we were a great audience.  The Sweethearts are proof that good friends, exercise, keeping busy and having fun will keep you young.  Very impressive!!!

THE SWEETHEARTS (aptly named)
