PROGRAM: Hermosa Beach Mayor Mike Keegan introduced today's speaker, Ann Marie Wallace from the League of California Cities. They are circulating a petition to get a Proposition on the November ballot that will keep the state legislature and governor from taking more money from the cities, counties and special districts. The state has been taking money from the local areas for state purposes through good times and bad. The state mandates programs or services to be implemented by the counties and cities without providing the funding for those programs. Mike Keegan is working on this petition with the League of Cities in his individual capacity, not as Mayor. Petitions are available for signature and any help you can provide in gathering more signatures would be appreciated. Their website is www.protectlocalservices.com. |
