STARTERS: Prez Rick Koenig opened the meeting.  We sang without leadership.   Dick McC led the pledge, and Father Earl gave the invocation..

GUESTS: Rick Borders brought his mom Elaine, Linda brought friend and prospective member John McKiernan and Larry brought Maggie.  Joanne arrived late with her two granddaughters from Saugus and Terry came in late with Key Clubbers Dina, Jessica and Sue.

BIRTHDAYS/ANNIVERSARIES:  None today.

DRINK DISPENSER/FINK/OTHER FINES:

Whit caught Rick, Bruce, Jane, Maggie & Jackson and fink Harry nabbed Cathy and requested the rest to volunteer.

INDUCTION:  Membership Chairman Howiee and Sponsor Rick Koenig inducted new member RICK BORDERS!  Rick has already shown his willingness to volunteer with his help at Rick's installation and his many hours at the Tree Lot.  Welcome, Rick!!!

NEW BUILDERS CLUB:Dick displayed the new banner for the Parras Builders Club and invited all Kiwanians to the party celebrating the new charter.  Feb 7 at 5:30 at Kiwanis Hall.  Free dinner.  Come one, come all -- but sign up please.

KEY CLUB REPORT: President Dena gave her state of the Key Club Union, reporting on all their recent and upcoming activities.  Historian/Scrap Book Chairman Jessica brought last year's scrap book to display and said her interest in photography is coming in handy for the current scrap book.  V.P. Sue said she wasn't sure what her job description was, but she wound up doing the jobs no one else wanted.  That's the VP job description, isn't it Terry??  Key Club meets at 12:20 on Tuesdays in Room 307 at Redondo Union.  They would love to have Kiwanis visitors, but call or go with Terry so you can legally be on campus.

             

PROGRAM: Howiee demonstrated his amazing photography and photo editing skills with a gorgeous and frequently hysterical travelogue of his trip to China.  It was fabulous!!  Thanks, Howieee.

 

  

HAPPY/SADS: Joe sad he and Marie were too sick to entertain at Christmas, but happy that now they are baaaack and healthy; Yvonne happy re new member Rick and all his hard work at the tree lot; Mike happy that 2003 is over and hopeful that 2004 will be a good year; Rick B happy to be a member, sad that there will be no more free lunches; Bruce happy re last year's Kiwanis activities, especially the Kiwanis St. Patrick's Day parade in the rain; Greg happy re Rick a member and happy re that other matter (shhh, don't jinx it); Sam happy re doing nothing over the holidays, just the way he liked it and happy re Howiee's picture of him, skinny with lots of dark hair on his head; Judi sad re the shooting incident near Redondo Union this morning, but happy the policeman is ok; Cathy sad re the lockdown of all the schools this morning and her mother's trailer park as well; Charlie happy he visited his mom who lives near Cambria in a 1917 built home (that's earthquake country)  and she survived the shaking; Pat happy re being a Kiwanian, but sad all the December Kiwanis projects are over; Larry happy re prospective member Winston (Jane's new puppy); Linda happy her friend John was here; Dan happy re Nick's professionalism at the tree lot; Rick happy re tree lot, and Christmas festivities.

TREE LOT UPDATE:.Yvonne reported that final figures aren't in yet, but looks like we will end up with close to what we made last year.  That's great!  We closed up the lot on Saturday night before Christmas with no trees left.  Thanks to Paul & Yvonne for another great job and to all the members who worked so hard.

RAFFLE: Pat Love had the winning ticket and took the $54 daily pot.  There were 20 cards and $248 in the big pot.  FINK NEXT WEEK:  #990
