PROGRAM: Sharon McClain, the new Superintendent of the Hermosa Beach School District was our speaker today. She started teaching in St. Louis, worked with Gwen Gross in Ojai, and came here from Ventura County. She has 7 (almost 8) grandchildren. Her husband is Superintendent in Lawndale. This year the school district has its 100th anniversary. A lot of new physical improvements and new construction are anticipated this summer and on into next year. Funds are from the bond funds, developer fees, grants and other sources. They are counting on $1.9 mill. from Prop. 55 funds. There will be no summer school this year because of construction. We also made a donation to the District for after school programs. |
