PROGRAM: Linda
Dickerson, the Hermosa Beach Community
Library Manager was our speaker. She
has been in Hermosa almost a year and with County of LA for nearly 7
years. Last year's Hermosa
circulation was ;29,500 adult books, 21,700 childrens books, 60,400
audio/visual materials, 12,000 new borrowers; 15,000 reference
inquiries. Problems facing the
library are major (40%) budget cuts that may result in reduced hours. Write to your legislators. We also need to do more with less; but
demand for services is increasing.
The library is looking for suggestions for programs and materials that
people of Hermosa may be interested in. New DVD Rental Program started by Friends of the Library last week has earned $77 so far. Current release DVDs rent for $1/day. Proceeds will be used to buy new materials. |
