STARTERS: Prez Rick ran the meeting, we all sang God Bless America, visitor James Jensen led the pledge, and Rev. Earl gave the blessing. GUESTS: Rick brought Helene and Gary Frost, Jeff Duclos and Linda Hopkins; Yvonne brought Corinne Ybarra, Howie brought Chris Keil, Christine brought Missy Bosh and Terry brought granddaughter Amelia Bose. Outgoing Key Club Prez Dina Goda was here and Parras Builders Club members Derek Nicholson, Shane Flannery, Ashley Bissaillon and James Jensen came to visit. Jack Belasco's wife Pat dropped by late. BIRTHDAYS/ANNIVERSARIES: We sang for Earl and Alice Fey's #1 wedding anniversary which was celebrated 4/19. DRINK DISPENSER/FINK/OTHER FINES: Whit caught latecomers Jerry, Colleen, Maria and Jane. Fink Carla tried to be nice and let the latecomers skate, but Cathy objected. HEALTH UPDATE: No medical updates, but keep Harry, Larry, Anne, and Jim in your thoughts. Let them know we're thinking of them. Jerry Compton and Corinne Ybarra are both still in the process of chemo therapy, but they were both at the meeting today sporting radical hairdo's. PROGRAM: Greg's scheduled program was a no-show so visitor
Garrison Frost volunteered to talk about the state of medical care. Medicare and Insurance plans don't pay
doctors enough to give you the care you should have. Rushing through too many patients a day in
order to survive financially is what causes most malpractice problems. Many shared stories about the nightmares
of inadequate attention given to patients by doctors. HMO's were especially difficult because
they make more money when they don't give you any care. Guests Missy & Chris: Sam draws:

HAPPY/SADS: Jerry happy he's nearly through his 5th round of chemo - 1 more to go - happy he's able to stand today; Dano happy for Jerry & Corinne fighting the good fight; Joe happy to see the Builders kids here today; Pat happy Corinne here and happy her in-laws are coming to visit; Dick happy he survived another week with Cathy not smoking, sad re death of aerial photographer Bill Alnes (sp?); Sam happy Circle K officers all went to training, sad he forgot his question for Terry; Whit happy Jerry & Corinne here and doing well; Howie happy Chris here - another tree lot recruit; Jack sad Harry is ailing - hope he gets well, and happy re Ocean Oasis program for Sister Cities; Cathy happy re quitting smoking, happy Jerry & Corinne here, but sad for what they are going through, and happy that after this weekend she & Dick aren't going to chair any volunteer projects for a while; Cary happy/sad re Jerry & Corinne brave battles, happy to see Helene & Gary here, and happy re going to Bejing and Shanghai; Joanne happy re Builders here - great gardeners- and happy re Dina going to Berkeley; Terry happy Dina was a great Key Club Prez - their banquet is May 22, happy re Builders here and happy to see the Frosts; Carol happy to visit S.F. last week to visit daughters and all 3 grandchildren; Linda happy re Kiwanis a great group; Rick happy about all our visitors. |
