PROGRAM: Ed Connaughton, former HB Kiwanian and now chiropractor and nutritionist. He gave us lots of good advice on how to eat healthy. Food to be avoided included doughnuts (fried, sugar loaded, transfats & no nutrients), soda (sugar, empty calories, artificial food colors and sulfites, artificial sweeteners), french fries (& all fried foods), chips (corn, tortilla, potato), and fried seafood. He suggested that U.S. nutrition is poor because of the toxins in the foods, food additives, fried foods, sugar, margarine. He was a great advocate of organic foods. Most of us would have a hard time following all of his suggestions, but they were definitely something to think about. |
HAPPY/SADS: Pat happy that Corinne surgery went well and she's home recuperating (531 Pier #27, HB); Joe sad about missing some meetings because he fell and was in the hospital, but happy because "You can't keep a good man down." Sam happy to be here, happy re going to Port Angelus caucus in Washington State, confused by question "Why do they have interstate highways in Hawaii?" Terry happy re going to Eureka (Highway 5) for granddaughter Ruby's baptism, happy Christine back; Bruce happy that March revolves around Total K day; Cathy happy to see Christine, Judi, Deborah and Monique; Greg couldn't afford to be happy cuz he left his wallet in his girl friend's car; Merle happy someone could be happy when his girlfriend has his wallet; Bob happy daughter Katie drove down Hwy. 5 to visit Bob & Judi, happy to be here; Bruce happy re his new briefcase; Rick just happy, happy re Parras Builders Club Party; Cathy announced League of Women's Voters program on ballot issues will be broadcast on Ch. 8/Adelphia. |
